Following great community feedback on the launch of Openads 2.3 Beta, we’ve been working hard over the last 10 days to incorporate these bug fixes into a new release.

As a result, I’m pleased to announce the release of Openads 2.3.35 Beta. This version contains the following important updates:

  • Fully functional password recovery
  • Ability to migrate geotargeting data when upgrading from Openads 2.0
  • Fixed cache problems experienced by people running multiple hosts
  • Compatibility for database table prefixes containing capital letters

For full details on the new version, please see the Openads 2.3.35 beta release notes.

We’d be delighted to hear what you think of the new version. It’s your feedback that drives the direction of the Openads platform. So keep it coming!

Download the new version now!

  1. I’m currently using Openads 2.0.11-pr1. Is it advisable for me to upgrade.

    Message from the openads application.

We’re pleased to announce our second 2.3 beta release. This release includes lots of bug fixes and we recommend all 2.3 beta users upgrade.

I guess its not applicable to me ?

    Please revert.

    Thanks.

  2. Hi there

    I’m using

    Openads 2.0.11-pr1
    Apache 1.3.37
    PHP 4.4.6
    MySQL 4.0.23

Last night I tried to update the software - but it failed, because OpenAds didn’t find the previous installation of the software. So the setup installed new MySQL-tables and that’s it.

I adhered strictly to the Update-advices (backup the old version incl. DB-backup, copy the new files on the webserver, copy the config-file in the var-directory, start the upgrade-process.

    Well - what’s wrong?

  3. I don’t think its meant for Openads 2.0.11-pr1 users.

Quote “we recommend all 2.3 beta users upgrade.”

  4. Hi all

well … so I have to install OpenAds 2.3 next to my “old” version and I have to setup all campaigns again???

    Is this correct?

I thing, it’s a lot of work - really a lot of work, to copy and setup all the campaigns.

What about the banner-tags? Are they the same in OpenAds 2.3 as in OpenAds 2.0.11-pr1 ???

    Greatings,

    Tobias

  5. No, it is not recommended that Openads 2.0 users upgrade. Openads 2.3 beta is, as the name suggests, beta software. We would not recommend it for a production system (although many people are successfully running it in production).

Unless you want to trial the new beta version, and help us find bugs, test out the new features, etc., then you should continue to use Openads 2.0 until such time as we release a new stable version.

  6. Hi Tobias,

    I have no idea what’s wrong! :)

Why don’t you create a post on the forums, and then we can talk about your problems in detail there, and get you up and running.

    Thanks!

  7. Hi Tobias,

It is, of course, NOT a requirement that you replicate all of your setup if you want to upgrade from Openads 2.0 to Openads 2.3 beta! Openads 2.3 beta can upgrade your existing Openads 2.0 installation, and migrate all of your data across. As I say above, if you are having problems with this, please use the forums for support.

Openads 2.3 beta does have new zone invocation tags with new features - however, we have worked hard to ensure that your old Openads 2.0 zone invocation tags will still work after you have upgraded to Openads 2.3 beta.

  8. Hi there,

Openads 2.3 is still in beta. It is being use in production by many customers (eg. http://www.sugababes.com ). The new Beta upgrade wizard supports upgrades from Openads 2.0.11-pr1 so you will have no problems. However, you may prefer to wait until it’s officially released as stable which isn’t too far off now.

This is a decision you would need to make for yourself.

For more information on the 2.3 Beta, please refer to the product page

  9. Hi Prakash

Actually, the new 2.3 Beta does cater for Openads 2.0.11-pr1 users. You’ll find it very easy to upgrade your system using the new install/upgrade wizard.

For more information, check out the 2.3 Openads product page

We’re always interested in feedback so let us know what you think!!
